Simplifying Security: Web Summit Insights
Before Web Summit 2024, we already knew that 65% of startups do not use security tools like password managers to protect and share sensitive information. Usability issues, trust concerns, and sharing limitations push many startups to rely on outdated or cumbersome solutions, such as notepads and spreadsheets, or overly complex systems, despite the critical importance of safeguarding sensitive information.Â
As we approached the event, it was clear that startups needed simpler, more intuitive ways to protect their data. After countless conversations at Web Summit, we left with reinforced insights and renewed excitement about how Secrets Vault can fill this gap.Â

What we learned
During Web Summit spanned three days, we connected with more than 250 new contacts. These interactions gave us a deeper understanding of the key challenges startups face with digital security:Â
- Complexity is a barrier: Many attendees expressed frustration with the current solutions, finding them too complicated for daily use.Â
- Trust concerns: Founders were hesitant to store sensitive data on external platforms, citing fears of breaches or misuse.Â
- Sharing struggles: Teams reported difficulties in securely and efficiently sharing access credentials, keys, or documents with collaborators.Â
The response to Visual Safeguard
Our beta tool, Visual Safeguard, struck a chord with attendees. Designed to replace traditional passwords with image-based security, it offers an intuitive and robust way to access, protect, and share sensitive information. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive:Â
- A SaaS founder shared, “The visual approach makes security much easier for my team”.Â
- A fintech lead remarked, “This is the first time I’ve seen a solution that combines simplicity and security so seamlessly”.Â
- An HR manager noted, “I think we’ll be able to securely and efficiently share files with our clients, solving a challenge we’ve faced with other tools”.Â
- A security expert commented, “I was a bit skeptical about your solution before visiting your booth, but now I understand the well thought security protocol behind, so you got a new user!”Â
- Many visitors praised its usability, calling it a standout feature compared to existing solutions.Â
The enthusiasm for Visual Safeguard is evident in the spike of new users adopting the product. Startups valued the opportunity to explore a solution tailored to their unique needs.Â
